The Manufacturers’ Information Hub (The MIH) is a pan-European, not-for-profit organisation established by construction product manufacturers to simplify access to construction product information.
We are building a single gateway which will enable product information to flow securely and efficiently between all parts of the construction supply chain, throughout the life cycle of the product.
If you’ve ever searched for flights or booked a hotel room, you will have experienced the seamless flow of interoperable data between organisations. The technology that enables this is called a global distribution system (GDS). The MIH is building a GDS for construction product information across Europe.
Rather than storing and managing product data, the portal will connect with manufacturers’ existing information systems and will make managed and governed information accessible through standardised interfaces. Manufacturers will retain responsibility for the validity and accuracy of their product information, and control who can access and use it.

The MIH is a not-for-profit AISBL* membership association, owned and run by manufacturers and their trade associations for the benefit of all users of their product information. As a result, it can never be sold.
The MIH offers equal representation to SMEs, micro businesses and large companies. Any member can be involved in the work of The MIH by serving on our committees.
As a member-owned organisation, The MIH will always work for the industry. It will enable manufacturers to share their information securely with platforms and organisations they choose, while retaining responsibility for its accuracy and control over their intellectual property.
(*Association Internationale Sans But Lucratif is a legal entity under Belgian law designed for non-profit organisations operating across international borders.)

The ESC holds overall responsibility for the governance of The MIH while the board and membership of the AISBL are being established.
